8time South African Music Award (SAMA) winner, Zahara graces
the July/August cover of Jet Magazine. In the issue the Loliwe singer opens
up about her sudden rise to fame and her unique style.
The Eastern Cape songstress rose to fame with her
self-titled album, Zahara. The album would
later win her 8 SAMA awards and sky-rocket her career. The 24-year-old reveals how she’s dealing
with the sudden fame:
“The tabloids have said all sorts of things about me and it
hurts. I’ve only been in the industry for ten months. Sometimes it feels as
though my supporters think they own me, which can get hard. It’s overwhelming,
but it’s a blessing to be a nation’s pride.”
She also admits that when she was growing, material things
never really appealed to her telling Jet Magazine, “material things do not
define my success.” Commenting on her fashion choices she admits that she never was a fancy person although she "doesn't mind getting dolled up" she just preferes her natural look.
