The Royal Soapie Awards honoured Mzanzi's finest soapies. From the actors to the tech teams.
Mzanzi Magic's popular TV drama, ISIBAYA walked home with the following awards:
- Outstanding Lead Actress goes to Thembi Nyandeni (Mkhabayi)
- Outstanding Lead Actor goes to Siyabonga Twala (Mpiyakhe)
- Most Outstanding Casting Director
- Most Outstanding Writing Team
- Most Outstanding Directing Team
- Most Outstanding Soapie
- Most Outstanding Hair & Make-Up Team
- Most Outstanding Art Direction
- Most Outstanding Editing Team
- Most Outstanding Lighting
Other notable winners include, Annelize van der Ryst who plays Netta Nortjie on 7de Laan and Hennie Jacobs who won Outstanding Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Diederik on 7de Laan .
A special moment in the award show was when the legendary, Shaleen Surtie-Richards was awarded with this years Lifetime Achievement Award. With no formal training, Sharleen has managed to sustain a career in this industry for more than 30 years. Appearing in soapies like Egoli, Generations, 7de Laan & Villa Rosa.
The awards will be televised on SABC 1. However scheduling details have not yet been released.
