Does the U.S. have The X-Factor

One of the most anticipated singing competition’s is set to hit the states this September. (Like we really need one more talent search competition on TV) Former, American Idol judge Simon Cowell presents The X-Factor...

What sets the competition apart from any other; is its format. There are four judges and each judge is assigned to a different category namely female singers under 25, male singers under 25, singers over 25 and groups. The judges act like mentors and coach their assigned group, causing competition between the participants but also the four judges.

TRC can confirm that the four judges of the US version of X-Factor are:

·         Cheryl Cole – Many may know Cole for her song “Fight for this Love” but she’s also a prominent judge on the British version of X-Factor.

·         L.A. Reid – Reid is the Former Chairman and CEO of Def Jam Records and has launched careers by signing artists like Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey to his label.

·         Paula Abdul – Abdul is a singer, dancer and a Television personality. She’s commonly known for her role as a former judge on American Idol.

·         Simon Cowell – The man we love to hate. Cowell returns to US television after leaving American Idol. Probably the most known judge because of his snappy comments and his brutal honesty Cowell will award the winner of X-Factor with a $1Million recording contract.

Former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger will co-host the show with British TV personality, Steve Jones. Here are some of the previous winners of the UK X-Factor who managed to launch successful careers across the pond: Leona Lewis, Shayne Ward and Alexandra Burke.
