The world seemed to come to a sudden halt when reports surfaced that Whitney Houston passed away at The Beverly Hilton Hotel this weekend.
The singer was found completely lifeless in a bathtub, according to TMZ “Whitney’s face was below the water and her legs were up like she had slid down the back of the tub.” Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina (18) was denied access from seeing her mother.
As soon as the news broke artists took to Twitter to share their heartfelt sympathies, her When You Believe duet partner, Mariah Carey tweeted:
“Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston, she will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the Earth.”
Houston had one of the most recognized and powerhouse voices in the world, the 48 year-old gave music lovers epic ballads, melodic sing-a-longs and disco anthems that cemented her legacy in music industry, earning her 6 Grammy’s, 22 AMA’s and 30 Billboard Music Awards. At the end of last year Houston finished shooting the movie Sparkle which is set for a worldwide release in August 2012.
It’s been announced that a special Tribute performance by Oscar and Grammy award winning singer/actress, Jennifer Hudson are on the cards at this year’s Grammy Awards. Quite fitting considering Houston presented Hudson with her first Grammy Award back in 2009. Relive the moment below:
