Interview with Beat Smith:

Q: When did you realize you want in (music industry)?

A: When I truly realized my passion for music. Once I realized that with enough determination I could make a living doing what I loved, I decided I couldn't spend my life doing anything else.

Q:  On your blog Smith City you list your top 5 hip-hop influences Tupac Shakur being the first. Why is he #1 and what is your favourite Tupac track?

A: Tupac to me stood for a change. He grew up around a lot of different significant surroundings, some being Art, the Black Panthers, etc. I easily related to his music more than any other Artist, he showed me to aspire to make music for people. Also as a person I admire his passion, drive and determination for his craft.

Even though its really hard to pick just one, I'd have to say my favorite Tupac song is "Dear Mama."

Q:  If you could collaborate with any artist or producer who would it be and why?

A: I'm gonna cheat and pick two people.
Artist: Lil Wayne, hands down. Other than Tupac, he's been my number one influence.Producer: Dr.Dre. He's the greatest producer of our generation. His work ethics have been a major influence on me.

Q: Can you tell us a little more about Bryan Boyz and how this concept/collaboration started?

A: "Bryan Boyz" is a group Cutter Manhattan (@ChaseMySwag) founded, I often work on collaborations with him.
Q:  What is your Song of The Year?

A: That's another hard one. I'd have to say "Everything to Me" by Monica. I like to see her come back so strong, besides the fact that was one hell of a song.

Q:  Any update on your debut album?
A: Not at the moment. Though I will say I'm working on a different sound for my album, I'm looking to do an R&B/Hip-Hop infused Alternative album.
Q: What can we expect from your latest mixtape “Girls & Mixtapes”?

A: "Girls And Mixtapes" is a lot more my style of music. It also has some samples of what my album might sound like. "Girls And Mixtapes" is Written, Produced, Recorded, Mixed and Performed, all by myself. (Excluding featured verses.)
Q:  What sets your music apart from all the other aspiring hip-hop acts out there?

A: I don't limit myself to just Hip-Hop, I'm an Artist. Other than a love for what I do, I'd like to make music that makes a difference that lasts the test of time.
